3B42RT Data Outages
Due to system downtimes and/or late arrivals of source files, there are some missing files from the 3B42RT ftp site at ftp://trmmopen.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/merged/mergeIRMicro/. These are listed in the table below. If all the selected files are missing, TOVAS will return an "Entire Grid Undefined"* message for graphic output, and a fill value of -99999.0000 for ASCII output. If the selected files contain missing and non-missing files, then TOVAS will return a normal output.
To access 3-hourly rainfall data for time periods that include these missing files, please visit TOVAS 3B42 Version 6. The Version 6 TRMM product 3B42 will be computed with the Multi-Satellite Precipitation Analysis (MPA) after real time, and will constitute the research-grade archive of MPA estimates.
* NB: "Entire Grid Undefined" is also used to indicate missing data other than those of a missing file. For example, the coverage of the 3B42RT rain data is from 50S to 50N. Areas outside of this coverage have no data and are denoted by the fill value of -99999.0, as are any data holes within the coverage area. In either case, if a selected area is entirely in the fill value area, TOVAS will return an "Entire Grid Undefined" message for graphic output.
